1574 players register for IPL Auction, including 1165 Indians; 204 up for sale

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will be held on November 24 and 25. This marks only the second time the auction will be conducted outside India, with Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, set to host the event.

A total of 1574 players have registered for the auction, including 1165 Indians and 409 overseas players. Among the Indian players, 48 are capped, while 1117 are uncapped. Of the uncapped players, 152 have previously participated in an auction. The international pool comprises 272 capped players, 107 uncapped, and 30 from associate nations.

  • Australia: 76
  • Bangladesh: 13
  • Canada: 4
  • England: 52
  • Ireland: 9
  • Italy: 1
  • Netherlands: 12
  • New Zealand: 39
  • Scotland: 2
  • South Africa: 91
  • Sri Lanka: 29
  • UAE: 1
  • USA: 10
  • West Indies: 33
  • Zimbabwe: 8

South Africa leads the overseas registrations with 91 players, while Australia follows with 76. Italy is a new entrant, represented by one player.

A total of 204 players will be sold, with each team allowed a 25-member squad. So far, the 10 teams have retained 46 players. Franchises can have a maximum of eight overseas players.

The player list will be trimmed in the coming days. Additionally, the auction will feature an accelerated round where franchises can nominate players to be auctioned. Those not chosen will not be part of the sale.
