Western Union is proud to announce it is the exclusive money transfer partner of Sydney Thunder, and an Official Partner of the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup.

Western Union has been in the business of bridging connections since 1851, and during that 171-years it has developed a trusted reputation for its service and reliability.

The Company realises cricket has a unique, universal language, and that it is one which binds people around the world. Through this exciting partnership with Sydney Thunder, Western Union looks forward to creating new experiences – and opportunities – for all HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup participants, and members of Thunder Nation across western Sydney.

It also wants to play an active role in helping to connect Big Bash cricket fans across Australia and around the world.

“We are excited to partner with Sydney Thunder, supporting an iconic local league with diverse players,” said Gregory Laurent, Head of Oceania, Western Union.

“Western Union connects people, and through this partnership, we are excited to share our support with passionate Thunder fans as they cheer for their favourite players.

“Cricket is a unifying sport, and we look forward to harnessing its incredible power to bring people together and celebrate special moments with them.”

Head of Sydney Thunder, Andrew Gilchrist was thrilled to have Western Union join the Thunder Nation.

“Western Union’s desire to connect with our fans and bring new fan engagement opportunities to the Big Bash this summer is extremely exciting.”

“We are also delighted that Western Union will be partnering with the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup. Western Union support allows us to continue growing the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup, which is at the cornerstone of our community programs, enabling us to connect cultures through Cricket.”

Western Union will provide the leading wicket-taker and run-scorer from the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup semi-finals day with a cricketing grant.

Western Union has been operating in Australia since 1995. The Company offers its services through its Branded Digital channels and from a wide network of over 3,600 Agent locations.
