Cricket South Africa (CSA) is thrilled to unveil the nominees for the annual CSA Awards, set to take place on 05 September at Vodaworld in Midrand.

This year’s celebration, themed ‘The Art of Cricket,’ is inspired by the campaign ‘Be Part Of It,’ which highlights the passion and artistry that have kept cricket vibrant in the hearts of millions of South Africans during the 2023/2024 season.

The awards, which will be broadcast on SuperSport, will honour South Africa’s top male and female cricketers across several categories, recognising the exceptional talent and dedication displayed throughout the season.

This past season was filled with notable achievements: the Proteas Men reached the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, and the Proteas Women had a promising run under Laura Wolvaardt’s leadership in her debut season as captain across all formats. Additionally, CSA successfully hosted the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2024 in January, where the junior Proteas secured a semi-final finish.

The nominees for the prestigious Men’s Player of the Year award include Gerald Coetzee, Marco Jansen, Quinton de Kock, Keshav Maharaj, and Kagiso Rabada. For the Women’s Player of the Year award, Nadine de Klerk, Marizanne Kapp, Masabata Klaas, and Laura Wolvaardt have been nominated.

The evening will also celebrate the standout players in domestic cricket. In a significant development for women’s cricket, this year marks the introduction of several new categories, following the professionalisation of the women’s game into a top-tier Division 1.

The nominees were selected by a distinguished panel of judges, including Crystal Arnold, Firdose Moonda, Patrick Moroney, Ashwell Prince, and Khanyiso Tshwaku, with statistical input from Andrew Samson.

Earlier in the day, the Pathway Awards will celebrate age-group and ancillary cricketers, along with administrators who have played an integral part in developing the game across South Africa.

The awards festivities will be preceded by the annual golf day on 04 September at Soweto Golf Club and a KFC Mini-Cricket Community activation event in Soweto.

CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki expressed his enthusiasm for the event: “The CSA Awards are a highlight of our cricketing calendar. They provide us with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the immense talent and dedication of our players, both at the domestic and international levels.

“The introduction of new categories for women’s domestic cricket is a significant step forward in our commitment to promoting and professionalising the women’s game. We are proud to recognise the outstanding performances of our female cricketers who continue to inspire the next generation.

“This year’s theme, ‘The Art of Cricket,’ perfectly encapsulates the beauty and passion that our players and administrators bring to the game, and we look forward to honouring them on 05 September,” concluded Moseki.

You are part of it. The game. The action. The conversation. The team. The story. The Art of Cricket.
