The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the public responsibility of managing one of the largest and the most successful stadiums in Australia and the world – the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The MCG is more than just a stadium, it’s an Australian icon and a meeting place for generations past, present and future.

The MCG is host to more than 70 major events and attracts over four million visitors annually. The MCC is the largest sporting club in the country with over 155,000 members and also manages 13 sporting sections with participation over 2,600. The Australian Sports Museum (ASM) has its home at the MCG, celebrating the country’s rich sporting history, which is also managed by the MCC.

The Memership Systems & Insights team, in the Club Services, Sport & Heritage department, is responsible for the management of the MCC’s customer relationship management systems (Member Systems) which house information about MCC members and waiting list candidates along with MCG and Australian Sports Museum customers and other key technology and processes linked to Member and guest experience

An exciting senior leadership opportunity is available in this team for a Manager – Membership Systems & Insights. Reporting to the General Manager of Club Services, Sport & Heritage and a key member of the Club Services, Sport & Heritage Leadership Team. This role will lead and support a talented team to maximise the potential of the club’s Membership Systems and have the ability to drive action through insights. Responsibilities include ( however not limited to) overseeing the department’s annual budget, business planning, and strategy, leading system and business insights functions, and driving best practices. You’ll support and lead staff to maximise membership systems, enhance stakeholder experiences, and build reporting dashboards. The role also involves partnering with MCC Technology and Business Performance departments, managing match day operations, and ensuring smooth annual renewal processes.

To be successful, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader that has worked in a similar role & industry, with a proven track record in strategic thinking, lateral and analytical problem-solving, and innovative change management. The ideal candidate will possess strong CRM systems and project management experience, coupled with sound commercial skills and business acumen. This individual will thrive in a collaborative team environment, exercise sound judgment, and effortlessly build meaningful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks effectively, and demonstrate exceptional communication and negotiation abilities are essential. A creative drive and achievement-focused mindset are also key attributes for success in this role.

It is essential that you also have experience in:

  • Delivering large scale system change within either a sports or membership organisation
  • Aggregating and analysing data to make decisions and build customer profiles
  • The use of Microsoft Dynamics CRM and associated reporting services
  • SQL server database query development and execution preferable.
  • Environments that have adherence to formal change management for software applications
  • Managing, mentoring and coaching a talented team
  • Developing effective project plans and manage issues proactively
  • And knowledge in database management, marketing and communications

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Management
  • Experience in a similar role at sporting or membership organisation of scale
