The Barmy Army announced today it has received an official ticket allocation at Lord’s Cricket Ground for the first time in history, marking a monumental moment for England’s Original Supporter’s Club.
Following productive conversations with Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) – the owner of Lord’s Ground and the guardian of the Laws of the game – the Barmy Army has been granted an official ticket allocation as part of a trial arrangement for England Men’s Test match against Sri Lanka, starting on Thursday 29 August.
It will be the first time in history that the Barmy Army has had an official representation at Lord’s, and is testament to the hard work and commitment in recent years to change external perceptions of the Barmy Army.
“I am incredibly proud that the Barmy Army has received an official ticket allocation at Lord’s, starting this summer,” said Chris Millard, Barmy Army Managing Director. “It marks a historic moment for the Barmy Army and is something we have been striving for in recent years.
“We are extremely grateful to the MCC for trusting the Barmy Army and affording opportunities to loyal Barmy Army members who travel all across the globe to support the England team. This marks a significant moment in our history as an organisation and we are excited to see what the future holds with our partnership with the MCC and the historic ground.
Vivienne Brown, Senior Head of Club Services at MCC, added: “We look forward to welcoming the Barmy Army to Lord’s during the Sri Lanka match this summer. Their members have demonstrated for many years their passion for cricket, following the England team worldwide. This is a trial arrangement as we look to build a lasting relationship with the Barmy Army.”
Barmy Army members can purchase tickets for the first four days of the England v Sri Lanka Men’s Test match at Lord’s and to celebrate the historic occasion, members are permitted to purchase up to four tickets for each day of play, as opposed to the usual allocation of two tickets on Monday the 10th of June at 11am. Please note that Ground Regulations at Lord’s apply to all spectators, including the prohibition of musical instruments, flags and fancy dress.
