The Scotland Women’s squad has been named for the upcoming tour of the Netherlands in August.

Scotland Women will play four ODIs and two T20Is against the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea, as preparations for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October continue.

Craig Wallace, Interim Women’s Head Coach, said:

“It’s going to be really good to be back playing cricket, it feels like a long time since we qualified for the World Cup, so it’s exciting to have this series as we continue our preparation for Bangladesh.

“It’s a really good opportunity to get a good volume of cricket in with the 50-over matches, and I’m looking forward to the team showing what they learnt in the qualifiers and bringing it to the one-day game, showing off our skills and how good we can be.

“Bringing Gabriella Fontenla and Niamh Muir into the squad is brilliant, the talent we have coming through is amazing and it’s testament to the work going on throughout the pathways set-up.

“I’m looking forward to them being part of the group, they deserve it, they’ve been working hard and playing really well, and can definitely add value to our team and put in match-winning performances, so we just want them to express themselves and play with freedom.

“We’ve got three players in The Hundred which is amazing for their cricket, and hopefully they keep putting in great performances and developing their game, but equally for us it’s exciting to give other players opportunities that they deserve.

“Leading up to the World Cup, it’s going to be brilliant to see everyone fighting hard for their country, but also for their spot. Obviously we’ll be taking it game-by-game, but everyone in the squad has that opportunity to really stick their hand up.

“Selection was really challenging, as usual, which is credit to those players who haven’t been involved in the last six months, who have kept working really hard, showcasing their skills and showing us that they deserve to be involved.”
