The Sydney Sixers continue to finalise their playing list in the lead up to Weber WBBL|10, with Mathilda Carmichael putting pen to paper, recommitting for the upcoming season.

Opting to make the move cross-country last season, the reliable middle-order bat swapped the west coast for the east, signing with the Sixers after seven seasons in Perth.

Born and raised in New South Wales, the talented junior cricketer and hockey player rose through the ranks to the Australian Hockeyroos squad, before making the switch full-time to cricket and relocating to Western Australia in 2016.

A Big Bash champion with the Scorchers in WBBL|07, Carmichael made her mark in her first season in pink, smacking 117 runs across 11 appearances, including a Player of the Match performance against the Hurricanes in Hobart to keep the Sixers finals hopes alive.

One of Western Australia’s most consistent contributors at the WNCL level, the 30-year-old was one of the state’s leading run-scorers once again last summer, with 236 runs to her name.

Sydney Sixers General Manager, Rachael Haynes said the knowledge and experience Carmichael is able to bring is unbeatable.

“The club is really pleased to secure Tilly for another season. Her versatility to shift up or down the order gives us great flexibility, but it’s the knowledge and experience that she brings to our group that is invaluable.

“Tilly is an incredibly hard worker who sets a great example for the younger players in our squad, and we know our fans will be stoked to see her back this season.”

The additions of Carmichael and young bowler Courtney Sippel earlier this week leave two domestic spots remaining on the Sixers list for the upcoming season.

The Sixers are set to begin their Weber WBBL|10 campaign against the Melbourne Renegades at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, October 27.
