The Scottish Super 10, scheduled for Aberdeen in August, has been canceled due to a lack of support from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Six men’s franchises—Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth, and Dundee—were set to compete in 34 Ten10 matches from August 16-31. Two women’s teams were also expected to participate.
Former England batter Alex Hales and Afghanistan T20 captain Rashid Khan were among the notable players signed up for the inaugural event.
Event organizer Star333 Sports confirmed to BBC Scotland News that the competition has been called off, with the ICC’s refusal to sanction the event being a key reason for the cancellation, preventing some big names from participating.
Star333 hopes the event can proceed in future years, thanks to a multi-year commitment from Cricket Scotland.
Cricket Scotland stated it is “unable to comment on the Scottish Super 10.”
