Queensland Cricket has thanked outgoing Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley on his commitment to the game in the State and congratulated him on his successful career with the national body.

After five years as CEO and 13 years working in Australian Cricket, Hockley announced today that the 2024-25 season would be his final one with Cricket Australia.

Queensland Cricket Chief Executive Officer Terry Svenson highlighted Hockley’s overall dedication to Australian Cricket and its key stakeholders over the past 13 years, including his time as CEO.

“Nick has successfully managed the challenging task of creating a strong working framework which has balanced the needs of the States and Territories as well as Cricket Australia as a whole,’’ he said.

“With this management team, he has overseen and delivered several significant decisions, including dealing with COVID and its aftermath, an MOU with the players, a new broadcast deal with Seven and FOX, and strong Australian teams and cultures.”

“In Queensland, we have greatly valued his input into the National Cricket Campus project and the overall delivery of important cricket infrastructure throughout the State, as well as his firm support of our strategic desire to grow the amount of elite cricket played in regional centres.

“Nick has been an enthusiastic supporter of the WBBL and BBL, and the Brisbane Heat in particular, supporting growth opportunities and backing the clubs to help us create the pre-eminent national summer sports leagues we have today which are such a strong element of the summer holidays for so many Australian families.”

“The Board and Management have greatly valued his insights and willingness to assist Queensland Cricket as we navigate the complex requirements around our preparations for the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics.”

“On behalf of the Chair Kirsten Pike and her fellow Directors, we wish Nick all the best in whatever challenge he embarks upon in the future and look forward to celebrating his career at an appropriate time this summer,’’ Svenson said.
