Mount Gay rum, owned by Rémy Cointreau, has become an official sponsor of the West Indies men’s international cricket team.
The partnership between Mount Gay and the West Indies men’s cricket team began during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in June.
Mount Gay supported the team on their recent England tour and will host activations at upcoming matches, including the South Africa tour in August. They’ve also released a cricket-themed XO rum with a sport-inspired label.
Mount Gay’s managing director, Antoine Couvreur, said: “As a brand deeply rooted in the Caribbean, we are incredibly excited to announce our partnership with the West Indies Cricket team. This collaboration celebrates our shared passion for excellence, bringing together the best of Caribbean culture and sport.”
Three weeks ago, Rémy Cointreau reported a nearly 16% drop in quarterly sales through the end of June. The group’s ‘liqueurs & spirits’ division, which includes Mount Gay, saw a decline of just over 20% compared to the same period last year.
