Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce the signing of all-rounder Ian Holland on a two-year contract.
The 33-year-old, who is currently on loan with the Foxes, will join permanently from Hampshire on 1 November.
A talismanic competitor in all three disciplines, Holland has enjoyed an impressive season at Uptonsteel County Ground, scoring 484 runs and picking up 15 wickets from his 13 appearances to date.
The Wisconsin-born star has taken on the unique role of opening both the batting and bowling for Leicestershire since his arrival. Averaging 42 with the bat in Division Two this term, he registered his maiden hundred for the Club in last week’s draw against Gloucestershire, the fifth first-class century of his career.
Holland boasts a first-class best of 146 not out, made opening the batting against Middlesex in 2021, while the right-armer took career-best figures of 6/60 against Surrey during the Bob Willis Trophy.
He is also a talented performer in both white-ball formats. After returning from Major League Cricket as a champion midway through this summer’s Metro Bank One Day Cup, Holland played a pivotal role in the Foxes’ run to the semi-final stages, recording 160 runs at 26.66 and eight wickets at 33.
In total, the American international has scored just shy of 4,000 career runs and claimed 191 wickets across all three formats.
Discussing his permanent move to Leicestershire, Holland said: “It’s been a great group to come into. Knowing how the team went last year, and how ambitious the Club is, it’s a journey I really want to be a part of.
“We’re building a great squad. Hopefully I can bring a nice balance to the team with bat and ball, and be a reliable contributor.
“There’s a natural expectation for us to win games now and be competing at the business end of competitions. I see no reason why this group can’t achieve great things in the next few years and I’m excited to help the team move forward.”
Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, said: “It’s fantastic to secure someone of Ian’s calibre on a permanent basis.
“He is a proven contributor with bat and ball in all three formats, and has integrated seamlessly into our dressing room.”
