Imperial Lions and Beyers Chocolate are excited to add an on and off-field ‘chocolatey’ flavour into the fan’s next cricket match experience.

“With the cricket season upon us, both parties are thrilled to bring you, the fan a delightful Beyer’s Chocolate experience either at the comfort of your home or office while enjoying the beautiful game of cricket” said Imperial Lions Communications Manager Wanele Mngomezulu

“Whether it’s the upcoming 4-Day Series tournament starting 2 November 2020, the Momentum One Day Cup scheduled to start in January 2021 or the CSA Domestic T20, why not enjoy the ball-by-ball while lost in the Beyer’s mouthful chocolate experience”.

At the age of just 7, Kees Beyers already knew that one day he would own a chocolate factory.

The passion started by selling sweet treats to friends and family and at the age of 12. Kees qualified as a pastry chef at Ter Groene Poorte in Bruges when he was just 17. So deep was his passion that between the ages of 13 and 17, Kees woke up at 4:30am every Saturday and Sunday, to cycle to work part-time for a confectioner in a town near his home.

While his dream of owning a chocolate factory has come true, Kees never stops enriching his knowledge in the art of chocolate and confectionery making. He is now a Master Chocolatier, through L’école de Chocolat, and he still works closely with his staff members, to ensure that all Beyers Chocolates meet his exact standards of high quality.

“Beyers Chocolates is excited to team up with the Imperial Lions to add some sweetness in SA Cricket” commented Beyers Chocolate National Sales Manager George Waldeck.

“Beyers Chocolates was founded in 1987 by Kees Beyers, a Belgian born confectioner. We have been supplying high quality chocolates and chocolate products to the South African market for more than 30 years”.

“And we manufacture our own brand of Beyers Chocolates, Beyers creates local favourites such as Sweetie Pie, Amarula Chocolates and Dream Bear, we have also recently launched the Beyers “Snack Me” bar amongst others. We produce an extensive range of sub brands and private label chocolates for airlines and the hospitality industry. Our chocolates are stocked by all leading retailers”.

Waldeck concludes by saying “At Beyers we love what we do, and we put heart into every chocolate that we make”.

Imperial Lions CEO Jono Leaf-Wright expressed his delight in bringing a fun, sweet brand like Beyers Chocolates to all fans and partners; “As the Imperial Lions, we are truly humbled to be welcomed into the rich Beyers Chocolate family history and be part of the legacy. We certainly do welcome the Beyers family into the Imperial Lions family with the aim to enhance the fan’s experience and to put some fun and sweetness into the game we all love.

“We really do encourage all our fans to go buy their favourite Beyers Chocolates, sit back and enjoy the beautiful game of cricket with a box of delicious chocolates next to them. When our stadium opens for fans again which will hopefully be in the near future you will be able to enjoy the live match and all the great food and beverage options the Imperial Wanderers stadium has to offer and of course kiosks filled with delicious Beyers delights to choose from” Concludes Leaf-Wright.
