The Auckland ACES name an unchanged squad for this week’s Plunket Shield clash with the Central Stags at Eden Park’s Outer Oval, starting tomorrow.

The ACES look to back up a dominant Round One victory against the Otago Volts, where the ACES won by an innings and 129 runs in just over two days.

Kyle Jamieson starred with the ball against the Volts, claiming match figures of 8-45, and was impressed with the commitment of the group.

“The most impressive aspect was how we stuck to the plans we put in place. We know that, while it was a good start, we must be ready to implement our plans again this week.”

The focus now, however, turns to a Central Stags side that also nabbed a Round One victory. The match saw a double-declaration and a confident Day Four chase after rain wiped away two and a half days against Northern Districts.

“Central Districts have a pretty strong line-up. It will be another tough test; with some good weather, our home track should offer a challenge for both sides.”

Adding to the early-season top of the table clash, Skipper Robert O’Donnell is set to play his 50th First-Class match for Auckland.

“Robbie has been around for a while and contributed a lot to Auckland Cricket, both as a player and now as a captain,” Jamieson said.

ACES vice-captain Ben Horne shared Jamieson sentiments and said the side is stoked for O’Donnell.

“We are all looking forward to bringing home the treats for Robbie. He’s a fearless leader and it has been awesome to see him step up since taking on the leadership role.”
