Fans encouraged to bring a toy to Manuka Oval to help kids in need share in the festive season

Sydney Thunder is asking fans to bring unwrapped gifts to Manuka Oval on Tuesday 22 December when Thunder take on the Perth Scorchers to support the Canberra Hospital Foundation’s GiveMas appeal.

Don’t miss Thunder taking on the Scorchers at Manuka Oval! Ticket sales end at 11:59pm on Monday 21 December so be sure to buy yours in advance. This time gap allows the venue to verify all ticket purchasers to ensure the safety of everyone attending the event.

The gifts will be given to patients who have been in hospital for a long time, are away from their families and loved ones, or don’t have family nearby to visit.

In what has been such a challenging year for all, those who have been affected by illness and had long stays in hospital have had it extra tough. Restrictions on visitors to hospitals has put strain on families and patients and will continue to do so over the festive period.

Thunder is committed to making a real and meaningful difference in the community. The club has previously held toy drives in Sydney, with players making special visits to Westmead Children’s Hospital to hand out gifts and spread Christmas cheer.

In addition to unwrapped gifts, Thunder will be collecting monetary donations to help purchase gifts for those in need. Fans can also support the GiveMas appeal by purchasing a ticket in the HomeWorld 50-50 Charity Raffle.

Click here to purchase a HomeWorld 50-50 Charity Raffle ticket. It’s a win-win. Half of the prize pool will go to GiveMas and the other half will go to the winner. The winner will be announced at the game on Tuesday however you don’t need to be there to get involved.

Gift Guide:

– For children ranging from toddlers to young adolescents

– Please ensure gifts aren’t wrapped – they need to be visible for security reasons

– Please no food gifts

– All donated gifts must be new – due to infection control, we are unable to accept second-hand gifts

Thunder will have a collection point set up at both entrances to Manuka Oval for collection of gifts and monetary donations.
