Courtney Webb has been recognized for her outstanding season with the bat and in the field by the Melbourne Renegades members, who have voted her Player of the Season for WBBL|06.
Building on her fine WBBL|05 campaign, Webb took her game to the next level this season, making 246 runs at an average of 30.75, with her four not outs highlighting her ability to safely guide the Renegades to the end of an innings.
Webb posted her maiden WBBL half century in thrilling circumstances, notching an unbeaten 54 from 33 balls against the Melbourne Stars to help tie the match and send it to a Super Over.
That effort was made all the more remarkable by the fact Webb came to the crease at 3-40 in the sixth over, with her side staring down the barrel of defeat against its crosstown rivals.
Batting at No. 5, Webb regularly held the Renegades’ batting order together, coming in early, such as in the aforementioned win over the Stars, or playing a late cameo with the tail end.
She made three scores of more than 32, including an unbeaten 46 against the Sydney Sixers in the penultimate match of the season.
Webb also took one of the catches of the season, holding onto an incredible diving effort to dismiss Ellyse Perry at North Sydney Oval.
The 21-year-old was one of five Renegades players to feature in all 13 matches this season, and looms as a key figure in the club’s rise up the ladder in the WBBL seasons to come.
