Emirates Cricket Board appoints Mudassar Nazar as Selector and Head of National Academy Program

The Emirates Cricket Board is the governing body for cricket in the United Arab Emirates. An Associate Member of the International Cricket Council since 1990, it represents the UAE at the ICC and is also a member of the Asian Cricket Council.

Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has today confirmed that Mudassar Nazar has been appointed as Selector and Head of (ECB’s) National Academy Program. 

Khalid Al Zarooni, Vice Chairman Emirates Cricket Board, said, “The Board is very pleased to announce Mudassar’s appointment. Having worked with such high-profile, demanding and professional unions he has developed an exceptionally strong pedigree as a successful coach and proven specialist of the game.”


Well respected across the cricketing-world Mudassar boasts a strong understanding of the cricketing needs across the Emirates having being an integral member of the management team that launched and implemented various coaching programs at the ICC Academy (ICCA) at Dubai Sports City, Dubai (UAE). His knowledge of identifying, developing and nurturing talent runs deep having coached the Pakistan National Cricket team and the Kenyan National Cricket team, additionally, Mudassar held the role of Director of Development at the Pakistan Cricket Board where he designed and implemented their National Academy and Coach Education programs.

Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Selection Committee Chairman, Emirates Cricket said. “I am delighted to welcome Mudassar to join our team as we continue with our efforts in identifying and grooming talent. Mudassar’s experience with the ICC Academy will be particularly helpful with our National Academy Program. His presence and participation will go a long way in helping nurture an even larger pool of young and promising cricketing talent across the UAE.”

“We look forward to working together in guiding these youngsters turn into world-class players representing the UAE at major international tournaments.” Dr. Kamali added.

Mudassar Nazar said “I am pleased to be back in UAE and to get involved with the national academy program. There is so much talent in UAE which needs to be nurtured to help UAE’s progression to the next level. I am thankful to ECB for reposing confidence in my abilities to support and guide UAE cricket”.
