Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce the establishment of a dedicated Women’s High Performance Center, with the aim of lifting the Women’s Game to reach greater heights.

The new center was established at the P. Sara Oval Cricket Stadium, following an MOU Sri Lanka Cricket signed with the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club.

According to the MOU, the P. Sara Oval Ground, Side Wickets, Indoor Nets, Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, and the Dormitory facilities of the Tamil Union will be used to develop the Women’s Game.

’We will use this Women’s High-Performance Center to lift the Women’s Game of Sri Lanka to World-Class Status,’’ said Shammi Silva, President, Sri Lanka Cricket.

The MOU with Tamil Union came into effect on 1st January 2021, whilst the Women Cricketers representing the Emerging and National Teams have already commenced training at the new facility.

A dedicated High-Performance Center is a must to enhance our game to be on par with International Women’s Cricket, and this facility will take our Women’s game to new heights within a short period of time’ said Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.

With important cricket series for Women’s Cricket coming up, the new High-Performance Center is expected to help women cricketers with more preparation time.

The introduction of the new facility means physical training and skill training hours per player has increased tremendously, which augurs well for the future of the Women’s Cricket,’’ said Manuja Kariyapperuma, Consultant, Operations and Development of Women’s Cricket of Sri Lanka Cricket.
