Titans Cricket have beefed up their support staff considerably, adding experience and quality to the backroom ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

The former Easterns head coach Richard Das Neves has joined the team as Batting Consultant , Dieter Swanepoel has joined as the Strength and Conditioning coach, while Matthew Reuben has moved from the Lions as Performance Analyst.

Given the small margins at the top level of domestic cricket, these appointments will ensure that Titans Cricket remains highly competitive.

“It’s always important to have a strong team behind the team that goes out on the field,” Titans Cricket CEO Dr Jacques Faul said.

“In Richard, Dieter and Matthew, we’ve got some of the best coaching, fitness and analysis available in South African cricket. They’ve proved themselves, and I have no doubt that they will fit right into the ethos of being a Titan,” Dr Faul enthused.

Das Neves, who coached Easterns Cricket with distinction and produced several players who became Titans players, was delighted to don the Sky Blues.

“To work in a professional, well-run structure with a great vision is really exciting,” he said ahead of the announcement.

“I look forward to working closely with Mandla (Mashimbyi) and the players, to continue the success that the union has had in the past, as we head into the new era of South African cricket.”

Das Neves also explained that he was excited to contribute to the pipeline, and nurture the burgeoning talent that exists in the area.

He is also excited about the opportunity of working with a team who have a strong winning culture ingrained into their ethos.

“The vision and championship mindset at Titans cricket is aligned with my way of thinking,” he relished.

While cricket is currently not permitted, the Titans players and staff remain safe, looking forward to the start of new challenges and possibilities in the new season.

“Being able to join the most successful franchise in the history of Cricket in South Africa is a dream come true, because I get to work with some of the best coaches, players and administrators in South African cricket,” Reuben said ahead of his tenure.

“I am very keen to learn from what they have done to be so successful, and share my expertise in terms of growing and evolving.”
