The Hobart Hurricanes WBBL|06 Player of the Tournament, Rachel Priest, has committed to the club for another year, confirming she will again don the purple for WBBL|07.
Priest, who made her debut with the Hurricanes in WBBL|06, came out firing in her first season as a Hurricane, notching up 354 runs for the tournament – the most of any Hurricane – and taking up residence behind the stumps for all 13 games played.
Undoubtedly the highlight of Priest’s WBBL|06 season was when she led Tasmania’s team to a nine-wicket win over the Sydney Sixers, with an unbeaten knock of 92 – the highest individual score by a Hurricane since the inception of the WBBL.
The former New Zealand international – who qualifies as one of the Hurricanes three international signings – said she was excited to be heading into another WBBL season in purple.
“I’m really excited about getting out there for another WBBL season as a part of the Hurricanes group.
“We were obviously disappointed with where we finished last year,” Priest continued, “but there were some really good moments in there too. With the team and the program Sall [head coach Salliann Beams] has been building both on- and off-field, I really think we can show a considerable improvement this season.”
Priest joins Maisy Gibson, Naomi Stalenberg, Molly Strano, Belinda Vakarewa and Tayla Vlaeminck as the players contracted to the Hurricanes for WBBL|07.
