In partnership with the NPO, FEEDSA, the Central Gauteng Lions enjoyed a Do-Good afternoon yesterday (Friday 30 July), providing some relief and assistance to those communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the second last day of Mandela month July, the players, staff, coaches, umpires and grounds staff got stuck in to packing 2500 personal hygiene/sanitation hampers, with the end aim of distributing them to schools and vulnerable communities in the informal settlements. FeedSA’s Roxy Priebatsch is well-pleased at everyone’s efforts:

“We are thrilled to partner this year again with CGL to pack and distribute these hampers in honour of Mandela Month. It was an incredible day filled with lots of hard work and dedication and we are extremely grateful to all who participated!”

Themed “Give the gift of human dignity this Mandela Month”, the hampers cost R100 and included sanitiser; mask; Safeguard Body Wash; antibacterial soap bar; toothbrush; toothpaste; deodorant; sanitary pads; body lotion and Zambuk.

Wanele Mngomezulu, Central Gauteng Lions, Marketing and Communications Manager smiles as the Imperial Wanderers Stadium was alight with the packing

“The last 18 months or so have been a horrible time for thousands, which is why my heart is warmed at the sights seen today: Our players, coaches, staff… everyone getting stuck into packing for those families in absolute need right now. And to FeedSA for an outstanding job – it was our honour to partner with you on a job well done today. The day was also used to celebrated the international Friendship Day, a movement that started back in 1930 to bring people together.”
