The Perth Scorchers have signed speedster Lance Morris from the Melbourne Stars, with the tearaway quick committing to the Club for the next two Big Bash League seasons. While his BBL|10 campaign was marred by an ankle injury, Morris’ blistering pace with the ball was on full display at the back end of the 2020-21 domestic season.
The Dunsborough product was named Western Australia’s Rising Star at last April’s Laurie Sawle Medal after a breakout year for him as he made his debut in both first-class and List A cricket with the WA.
The quick regularly pushes the limits of the speed gun and rushes even the most experienced cricketers.
In his second Marsh Sheffield Shield match he claimed a maiden five-wicket haul against Tasmania, and in the first game after the KFC BBL break he claimed three top-order Victorian wickets in 11 balls to blow the game open.
Morris said he was thrilled to be returning to his native WA for the upcoming BBL campaign.
“I’m wrapped to have signed on with the Perth Scorchers for the next two BBL seasons.
“The opportunity to play at Optus Stadium in front of Scorchers’ Members and fans was a massive draw card for me.
“The Scorchers are a proud Club with a rich history, I can’t wait to link up with the squad for BBL|11.”
Perth Scorchers head coach Adam Voges said the Club was excited to welcome Lance back to his native Western Australia for the BBL.
“We’re very pleased that Lance has signed on with the Perth Scorchers.
“He’s an exciting talent who bowls with genuine ball speed, we’re looking forward to him continuing his development as a Scorcher.”
