The Melbourne Stars Academy squad will delay their travel to Darwin for the TIO T20 Strike League following Melbourne’s lockdown extension.
The tournament will commence as scheduled on Sunday 15 August with the first week to proceed with matches between the City Cyclones, Desert Blaze, Northern Tide and Southern Storm.
Pending the Melbourne lockdown ending as planned at 11:59pm on Thursday 19 August, and the NT Government subsequently revoking the greater Melbourne area as a hotspot, the Stars Academy will join the tournament from Sunday 22 August.
Commenting on the amended fixture NT Cricket CEO Joel Morrison said:
“It is obviously disappointing that the arrival of the Renegades and Stars needs to be delayed but living in a world with coronavirus requires flexibility and we have contingency plans in place.
“The amended fixture provides certainty for week one of the tournament, while also affording the Renegades and Stars every chance of joining the competition in time for the second week.
“We will continue to monitor the situation in Melbourne closely and work towards the Renegades and Stars arriving next Saturday.”
