Queensland Cricket will invest $400,000 in its grassroots over the next four years with community clubs and associations eligible to apply now for grants to help grow participation.
The establishment of the QC Grassroots Fund will offer 10 grants of $10,000 each on an annual basis over four years with a goal of growing junior participation.
Details and application information can be found at:https://qldcricket.com.au/grassroots-cricket-fund
The creation of the Grassroots Fund followed last month’s Annual General Meeting where the Board announced that a $4.4 million dollar surplus would be reinvested into the game.
The QC Grassroots Fund complements other existing funding sources, including the national Grassroots Fund, with the Queensland version identifying specific objectives to grow junior participation.
Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson said the funding could be for new programs or existing ones where it can increase the numbers of people playing the game.
“We’ve targeted this towards females, Indigenous players, Multicultural and All-Abilities participants. As part of the conditions, we want this to contribute to projects and proposals
“The funding can go towards paying new coordinators or training/upskilling junior coaches and coordinators.
“It can also contribute to developing a strategic plan that includes a focus on increasing junior participation and at least one of the key areas mentioned under our Grow Junior participation strategy.”
“There are some exceptional clubs and associations in Queensland who are progressive, innovative and draw upon the skills of many hard-working volunteers that we know will make great use of such funding.”
The first round of funding applications will close later this month.
