The Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), founded in 1967 by former England fast bowler Fred Rumsey as the Cricketers' Association, represents past and present first-class cricketers in England and Wales. In the 1970s, the PCA established a standard employment contract and minimum wage for professional cricketers. It also helped create a pension scheme in 1995 and launched the magazine All Out Cricket and the ACE UK Educational Programme in 2002.

Ashtead CC is a thriving and progressive cricket club based in Surrey. The senior section 1st and 2nd XI’s play in their respective AJ Fordham Surrey Championship Premier Leagues and 3rd XI division 1. The 4th XI plays in the Surrey Downs League and the Club arranges friendly 5th and 6th XI fixtures when availability allows. Ashtead also has a Sunday XI, playing in the VCL, and has a team in the Surrey Trust Academy League.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Cricket, the Player Coach will be involved in specific responsibility for developing senior players and supporting the senior section towards their objectives.

Key responsibilities:

To attend and play in all the Surrey Championship First XI Premier Division fixtures (18 games) Home and Away between May and September 2021 and in particular provide:

  • Pre-match warm-ups
  • On and off the field support to the Captain and players as required
  • Support to the Captain in post-match de-briefs
  • Support, guidance and mentoring to players throughout the game

To attend weekly senior training sessions during the season planning and leading with input from Director of Cricket and the First XI captain.

Skills and Experience:

  • Current experience of playing at ECB 1st XI Premier League level of cricket or higher
  • Experience of coaching cricket to a high level
  • ECB level 2 coaching certificate working towards an ECB Level 3
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Professionalism and punctuality
