The Melbourne Renegades latest signing Unmukt Chand will see plenty of friendly faces when he arrives ahead of the Big Bash Season.
The former Indian Under 19’s World Cup winning captain has a wealth of experience all across the globe, including stints in the IPL where he played alongside some Renegades royalty.
“In my first year at the Delhi Daredevils, Aaron (Finch) was with me so we’ve played a few games together and have opened together which was great.” Chand said.
“Also Kane Richardson, I’ve played with him at the Rajasthan Royals so it’s great to be playing with them again and I’m looking forward to it.”
Chand burst to prominence in the Under 19’s World Cup of 2012 where he struck an unbeaten 111 against host nation Australia.
The 28 year-old is the first Indian player to sign in the Big Bash League, something which is very significant to him.
“It means a lot to me, players come from all around the world to play these leagues and fans everywhere are watching these leagues so it’s great to provide a platform.”
“I know there are lots of Indians in Melbourne, so I hope they all come along to the games.”
Having debuted in the IPL at the age of just 18, Chand is no stranger to the big occasion, and he is excited to write another chapter in his career when he arrives in Melbourne.
“It’s great to be a part of the Melbourne Renegades family and I’m really looking forward to coming to Melbourne to get going.”
“I’ve always been following the big bash so it’s a good opportunity for me to play some good cricket so I’m really excited.”
“It’s one of the best standard competitions in the world.”
The Renegades season gets underway on December 7 against the Adelaide Strikers.
