All-rounder signs on as Replacement Player for Brendan Doggett

Thunder Nation crowd favourite, Arjun Nair, will play a role in Sydney Thunder’s BBL|11 campaign after signing-on as a Replacement Player for fast bowler Brendan Doggett, who’ll miss the start of the tournament with a side strain.

Nair, a 23-year-old right-handed batter and finger spin bowler who grew up in Sydney’s western suburbs, has taken 22 wickets and hit 238 runs from the 33 games he’s played for Thunder.

He stole centre stage as a teenager during BBL|07 when he took strike at Manuka Oval against the Melbourne Renegades when Thunder was struggling at 3-45. He displayed plenty of flair as he scored 45 runs off 25 balls.

As a bowler, Nair has long prided himself on knowing his plans and sticking to them.

CNSW Head of Male Cricket Michael Klinger said Nair added plenty to the Trevor Bayliss-coached Thunder squad.

“Arjun has been a member of Sydney Thunder for a few years and his bowling provides plenty of versatility,” said Klinger. “It’s also been especially pleasing to see that his batting is going from strength to strength.”
