Kidmore End Cricket Club was founded in 1863 and is one of the oldest clubs in the Thames Valley. The club has a rich history with the most recent achievement being the newly constructed state of the art clubhouse which was completed in 2011 boasting an exceptional set of facilities. Two of the three nets were upgraded last year and we have exceptional training facilities with further improvements planned. For more details see our website and social media.

Junior Cricket 150 plus members:

  • All Stars x 2
  • Under 9’s x 2
  • Under 11’s x 2
  • Under 13’s x 2
  • Girls Section
  • Dynamos (TBC)

Senior Cricket Teams:

  • Saturday Teams x 4 all in Thames Valley Cricket League (All home games live streamed)
  • Sunday Team in BERKSHIRE BLAST Sunday League (All games live streamed)
  • Midweek Cup (Home games live streamed)

The Role:

KECC are seeking a UK based Director of Cricket to play a key role in developing the club and cricketers of all ages. The Director of Cricket role will encompass being a Saturday player & head coach for the whole club. The key focus will be developing all our players and assisting existing coaches to deliver and improve sessions. The role will involve working with Adult and Junior players pre-season and during the season, as well as being the catalyst for invigorating and improving the coordination of our Junior section across all age groups. The person will develop and strengthen the Club’s playing members across all ages and genders and help grow youngsters that will play cricket their whole life, assisting the transition from junior cricket to adult cricket. We would also expect this player to be a key member of the 1st XI. Helping the club’s flagship side continue to play at a good level and progress up the divisions of the Thames Valley Cricket League. The player/head coach would need to work in tandem with the 1st XI captain to raise the standards of this team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver, with available coaching resources, indoor pre-season Junior coaching
  • Develop and deliver Junior, Women and Girls summer coaching plan, with the available coaching
    resources, with the focus on consistent quality and progression
  • Develop and deliver progressive Adult coaching to supplement net sessions
  • Assist with All Stars and Dynamos Cricket sessions
  • Encourage eligible Juniors to participate the pathway to Adult cricket
  • Develop and execute a Junior and Girls player retention strategy
  • Mentor and support Club Coaches

Additional Opportunities:

The Head Coach will have numerous opportunities to supplement his/her income. These may be with external parties as well as club members.

The Head Coach will receive all income from these opportunities with no deductions made by the Club except where club insurance or the main pavilion needs to be used.

The Club will actively facilitate, support and advertise any initiatives that the Head Coach will want to arrange/run.

In 2021 the club ran successful coaching camps generating substantial income for coaches.

  • One2one coaching sessions (use of Bowling Machines available. BOLA x 2, Slider x 1, FreeBowler x 2 )
  • Individual coaching and development plans
  • Delivery of Master Classes
  • Run Easter, May Half Term, July Half Term & Summer Holiday Cricket Camps
  • Training kit and playing kit will be provided
  • 50% Sponsorship with REAPER CRICKET
  • Access and involvement in Concept Cricket Academy with well established clients and reach

Example Coaching Timetable / Ground Availability:

  • From Feb 2022 Half-term: Under 9 to 12 Indoor coaching for 10 weeks
  • Mondays: No Coaching, nets, and outfield available (Option to start junior cricket in Wallingford)
  • Tuesdays: Girls and Womens cricket
  • Wednesdays: 9am to 6pm nets and outfield available. Occasional midweek fixture
  • Thursdays: 9am to 6pm nets and outfield available. Senior Training from 6pm onwards
  • Fridays: 6pm to 7.30pm All Stars sessions; 6pm to 8pm U9 , U11 & U13 coaching
  • Saturdays: 9am to 11am nets and outfield available before league games
  • Sundays: 9am to 8pm nets and outfield available if there are no matches

Professional Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum ECB Level 2 Coaching Qualification (or equivalent);
  • Ability to motivate and positively influence club cricketers, coaches, and teams;
  • A passion for working with children and/or young people aged 5 – 17-year-olds;
  • Experience working with both boys and girls of all ages
  • A professional and punctual self starter
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults in an
    amateur environment
  • The ability to liaise with parents, delivering high quality customer service
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with all ages

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Head Coach must be an ECBCA Member, and hold First Aid and the relevant Child Protection Certificates.
