Deadly Choices has produced replica Heat BBL and WBBL jerseys to serve as an incentive for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who undertake health checks in South-East Queensland.

“We hope this round can inspire more Indigenous boys and girls to play our game. Partnering with Deadly Choices will complement First Nations Round and we hope the Brisbane Heat and cricket can play a role in promoting health and safety in our communities.”

Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) CEO Adrian Carson said the Heat partnership would promote an important physical and mental health message, while giving parochial South-East Indigenous communities a chance to support their local summer sporting team.

“After more than 10 years of Deadly Choices preventative health initiatives across South-East Queensland, it’s a natural progression that the program expands beyond our NRL and AFL sporting partnerships with the Broncos, Titans and Brisbane Lions to include the Heat franchise,” Carson said.

“Teaming with Queensland Cricket provides a year-round platform from which we’ll incorporate community engagement activities among players, including visits to community-controlled health service clinics, Deadly Choices educational programs and the delivery of key health messaging via our social media platforms.”
