On top of a successful season on the field, the Sydney Sixers have made a massive commitment to the community off the park by helping to raise $19,600 for Sony Foundation’s ‘You Can Stay’ program.

Since the beginning of the BBL the Sixers players have auctioned their playing jerseys to raise awareness and funds for the ‘Sixers Can, You Can’ program.

In its 11th year, the money raised by the ‘Sixers Can, You Can’ program this summer will provide 196 nights of emergency accommodation for regional youth cancer patients, and their families, who are required to travel to metropolitan regions to access lifesaving treatment not available closer to home.

“Sony Foundation, the charitable arm of the Sony Group of Companies, is extremely grateful for the continued support of the Sydney Sixers,” Sony Foundation CEO Sophie Ryan said.

“For over a decade, the Sixers have demonstrated how the power and passion of a sporting community to back a cause is hugely powerful.

“We’re very proud of this partnership that has had a significant positive impact in helping youth cancer patients.”

The players also work with cancer patients to establish three words of inspiration to wear on the back of their jerseys in place of their names, prompting some heart felt quotes from patients Riley and Carly.

“I am honestly speechless about everything mate, I feel so privileged to be a part of this campaign…I can definitely say that Nicole made me proud as punch wearing COURAGE OVER COMFORT on her jersey at the WBBL You Can cricket match, it is just amazing and has been one of the greatest things that has happened to me on this journey” – Riley, regional youth cancer patient

“Thank you so much for dedicating a jersey to me. You have no idea how nice it feels to be noticed and not just another number…which is how I felt during treatment, so from the bottom of my heart Thank You” – Carly, regional youth cancer patient
