Emirates Cricket Board has today announced the team that will take part in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 (CWCL2) against Namibia and Oman during the first half of March this year.
Saturday March 5th the 50-over-format tri-series will be played through to Monday March 14th at the ICC Academy Oval (Dubai Sports City) and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
With the Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 event playing an important role in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 qualifiers the competition amongst the participating teams is expected to be fierce.
“Continued success in the 50-over format is integral to our strategy in maintaining and improving our ‘MRF Tyres ICC Ranking’ as well as establishing Emirates Cricket as a Full ICC Member. It is also essential in our campaign to qualify for the ICC (Men’s) Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.” said Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Selection Committee Chairman, Emirates Cricket.
“Recent achievements reaffirm UAE Cricket’s upwards trajectory across all formats of the game and for our Women’s, U19s and the Men’s teams. We are extremely pleased with the tactical mindset our men displayed during the successful campaign in Oman.”
“We look forward to our team replicating this winning formulae at the upcoming CWC League 2 event.”
The team that will represent the UAE is; Ahmed Raza (C), Chirag Suri, Muhammad Waseem, C P Rizwaan, Vriitya Aravind, Asif Khan, Basil Hameed, Rohan Mustafa, Kashif Daud, Zahoor Khan, Junaid Siddique, Karthik Meiyappan, Akif Raja, Rahul Bhatia.
UAE’s fixtures are as follows;
Saturday March 5th 09:30 v Oman ICC Academy
Tuesday March 8th 09:30 v Namibia ICC Academy
Wednesday March 9th 09:30 v Oman ICC Academy
Saturday March 12th 09:30 v Namibia Sharjah Cricket Stadium
