Sri Lanka Cricket donated 200 cricket mattings to the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association to be distributed among schools in the country.
The donated mattings are now being distributed to schools playing U15, 17, and 19 cricket.
Accordingly, schools in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Kandy, Kegalle, Nuwara-Eliya, Matale, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Puttalam, Badulla, Monaragala, Ratnapura, Jaffna, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Mannar, and Kilinochchi will receive the donation.
The latest initiative is part of Sri Lanka Cricket’s annual distribution of Cricket Mattings to schools across the country in a bid to develop the game at the grass-root level.
Apart from the 200 mattings, which are being distributed to schools, another 200 will be donated to Schools in the near future.
This donation comes on the heels of the recent program launched to donate cricket equipment to 650 schools in the country, which play in the Cricket tournaments conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.
Apart from the donation of cricketing equipment and matting, Sri Lanka Cricket has also developed cricketing infrastructure across schools in the country.
Among the work done includes the construction of 200 concrete (practice) wickets, 50 side turf practice wickets, 25 center turf wickets, and the distribution of 300 turf rollers, etc.
