Scotland men’s captain Kyle Coetzer is positive about the up coming ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches versus PNG and Oman this weekend.
Speaking after a warm up match yesterday versus UAE Blues at the Sevens Dubai stadium, Kyle felt there were many positives to take forward to the weekend.
“The build up has so far been really positive although as expected, it is taking a bit of time adjusting to the heat” he said.
“The guys have trained well so far and put in some some good yards and it was a decent performance in yesterday’s practise match.”
The game versus the UAE Blues was a good opportunity for coach Craig Wright to see the squad in action with 13 of the players getting the opportunity to bat and eight bowlers experiencing the conditions.
“It was an ideal workout yesterday with most of the top order spending some time at the crease and looking in good rhythm considering it was our first game of the season on grass.” Craig said.
“We also got to spend 40 odd overs in the field under lights which is good prep for our forthcoming games, plus all the bowlers got some overs in.
“There are still some areas to brush up on in terms of our discipline with the ball and in the field but that’s what the practice matches are for, to make sure we’re up to match intensity for the competitive games ahead”
The squad will have a 2nd practise match versus the UAE Blues tomorrow before preparing themselves for Saturdays international versus PNG. Scotland are sitting well placed in the CWCL2 league however, with over half of the matches still to be played, they will be looking for four wins in this round.
Scotland’s opening match versus PNG starts at 12pm (BST) on Saturday 9th and ca be viewed on ICC TV HERE.
