- Paraag Marathe to conclude tenure as USA Cricket Chairman that began in 2018
- Search for new independent director of USA Cricket to begin immediately
The USA Cricket Board has asked the Nominating & Governance Committee (NGC) to commence a process to find a new independent director to replace Paraag Marathe, who has informed the Board that he will conclude his term as USA Cricket Chairman as soon as that process is complete.
A long-time executive of the San Francisco 49ers as well as Vice Chairman of Leeds United Football Club, Marathe was one of the inaugural directors of USA Cricket selected by the International Cricket Council-appointed NGC in October 2018. His colleagues on the Board appointed him the first-ever Chair of USA Cricket and in March 2021 he was re-appointed for another term.
“Thank you to everyone associated with USA Cricket for their commitment to building a strong foundation for the sport in the United States through collaboration over the last three-plus years,” said Marathe. “I am pleased with the direction that has been set for cricket in this country, especially in light of the many unforeseen challenges we’ve faced, and the time is right for new leadership to see through the next phase of growth for the sport. My top priority is to ensure a smooth transition that will continue the upward trajectory of the sport. Cricket already features a hugely passionate community of players, fans, and advocates in this country and I will continue to be supportive of the sport moving forward.”

Since being reconstituted in 2018, USA Cricket has achieved several notable milestones including the following:
- Achieved ODI status for Men’s senior national team and hosted a Full Member country for a T20 International for the first time
- Oversaw the development and delivery of a comprehensive strategic plan
- Established the first-ever women & girls’ domestic program in 2021
- Staged four National Championships for the first time in 2022
- Qualified for ICC’s T20 WC qualification events in 2022 as champions of the Americas Regional Qualifiers
- Awarded the right to co-host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024 with Cricket West Indies
Chair of the Nominating & Governance Committee, Jagan Jagannathan, explained, “The recruitment of a suitable independent director will begin as soon as possible. The NGC will soon put out a separate media release to start the process.”
USA Cricket is conscious of the interest in the ongoing Board elections and the NGC continues to work through the various stages, in a fair and responsible manner in an effort to ensure that the delayed 2020 elections can be completed as soon as possible.
