The Melbourne Renegades congratulate Andre Borovec on his appointment as assistant coach of the Australian Men’s Cricket Team.
Borovec has been an assistant coach with the Renegades for the past four seasons, joining the club in 2018.
He was part of the Renegades’ BBL|08 championship success – alongside former Renegades head coach and now Australian Men’s head coach, Andrew McDonald.
“Andre has been a really important part of our club over the past four seasons,” General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.
“We’re obviously disappointed to lose him, but also really excited for him. Andre’s elevation to the national set-up comes as no surprise to us and is testament to his work with the Renegades and the quality person and coach he is.
“Everyone at our club wishes Andre the best of luck as he embarks on this exciting next step in his coaching journey.”
Borovec, who has also been part of the Victorian Men’s coaching staff since 2018, will finish in his current role at the end of May.
His first assignment in the national set up will be next month as head coach of the Australia A team in Sri Lanka, before joining the Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka.
