Following a thrilling opening T20 Festival weekend in North Down Cricket Club in Comber, County Down the action moves over to Bready Cricket Club in Magheramason, County Tyrone this weekend with six more matches down for decision.

This is the second of the three T20 Festivals, with the third and final one to take place in Pembroke Cricket Club, Dublin at the end of July. You can see our Competition Centre here.

Munster Reds currently top the table with three wins, reigning champions North West Warriors have two, Leinster Lightning one while Northern Knights have yet to register a victory. They will be hoping to rectify that this weekend.

The hosts North West Warriors make one change to their previous T20 squad, with the returning Craig Young replacing Raymond Curry. The Irish international pace bowler has been given the all-clear to return to action after surgery on a hand injury sustained during the World Cup qualifiers in December. William Porterfield is once again unavailable due to coaching commitments as the hosts will look to build on their current second-place standing on the table.

Warriors head coach Boyd Rankin is delighted to have Craig Young back:

“It’s great to have him back and everyone knows the quality that Craig brings to the side. It will definitely be a real boost to the squad to have him available again.”

Northern Knights have made three changes to their side for this weekend’s games. Into the side comes John Matchett, along with two South African-born youngsters, 20 year-old allrounder Cade Carmichael and 19 year-old left-arm spinner Cian Robertson.

For Leinster Lightning Tim Tector misses out due to school exams, but they have included former Munster Reds player Séamus Lynch in their squad for the first time.

Head coach Nigel Jones says it’s a good opportunity for younger players to make their mark:

“It’s been a challenging period with a number of players unavailable through injuries, exam/work commitments and/or on player loans to other teams. On the flip side, it’s created further playing opportunities and exposure to a wider pool of players from within our own system too.

“We’ve spoken about the need to continue to focus on what’s within our control and play what’s in front of us… if we can manage those two aspects, then we give ourselves the best chance to perform to our fullest potential.”

The North West Warriors are first up on Friday morning as they take on Northern Knights at 11am and will be followed by Munster Reds against Leinster Lightning at 3.30pm.

Weekend’s Squads

Leinster Lightning: George Dockrell, Lorcan Tucker, Andy Balbirnie, Jack Carty, Greg Ford, Gavin Hoey, Josh Little, Séamus Lynch, Barry McCarthy, David O’Halloran, Mikey O’Reilly, Simi Singh, Harry Tector.
