Cricket South Africa (CSA) held a successful engagement with its partners from Wednesday, 22 June to Friday 24 June 2022 at a retreat in Mpumalanga to update them on the strategic direction of the organization.

Dubbed the Partners’ Forum, this is an annual session which is attended by all CSA partners, intended to strengthen collaboration, achieve a shared vision, and drive purposeful and sustainable initiatives that deliver clear long-term multi-stakeholder value.

This was the first face-to-face meeting since the outbreak of the Covid-19 in pandemic 2020 and coincided with the first-year anniversary of the appointment of the CSA Board.

CSA, led by its Board Chairperson, Lawson Naidoo and Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki shared the organization’s five-year strategy, while the Executive Committee delivered high-level plans, including the 2021-22 season research report. The Proteas team management presented their ambitions on the positioning of the team as a fast-emerging global brand and the value that the CSA partners can derive from the property.

CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki said of the forum:

“CSA is continuing in its trajectory of rebuilding, and our partners are critical in this process. As we journey into the new phase of CSA’s brand-promise, we envision an impactful and shared vision with our partners to better serve this beautiful game from the ground up.

“I would like to thank our partners for believing in CSA as a bankable entity and supporting us through difficult times. That our partners had called for more frequent engagements confirms the zeal and goodwill that abounds. It a clear vote of confidence in the governance and administration of organization.

Reflecting on the milestones achieved by the Partners’ Forum, Sechaba Makume, the Integrated Experiential Manager at Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) said:

“The partners’ forum was not only a fantastic experience from Cricket SA, and I believe it fulfilled the purpose of reconnecting with partners and jointly re-establishing the reasons we’re behind the organization, its meaning to South Africa.

“We’re certainly excited about the organization’s new approach to the future and we look forward to being part of the journey, all in the name of nation-building.”

While the Forum was in session, Health Minister, Dr Joe Phaahla on Thursday made a formal announcement on government’s move to repeal the country’s last remaining coronavirus mitigating regulations. This effectively means that stadiums can now be filled to their full capacity.

Commenting on both the success of the Partners’ Forum and government’s scrapping of coronavirus regulations, CSA Board Chairperson, Lawson Naidoo said:

“Partners are the heartbeat of cricket in all aspects of the game. When we assumed office as the CSA Board, we took a deliberate decision to reconnect with all stakeholders to jointly craft a new direction for the organization.

“As the Board commemorates its first year in office, we are pleased with the camaraderie that we were able to forge with our partners and share our new strategic direction. We thank them for their patience, understanding and support as we now, together, move to return cricket in South Africa to its glory days.
