Ringwood Cricket Club’s Erin Carroll is the 2022 Renegades Recruit.

The 18-year-old has won the inaugural female edition of the program after a public vote, from fellow ‘Final 3’ members Chelsea Moscript (Dandenong CC) and Paris Bowdler (Prahran CC/Geelong City CC).

More than 2,500 votes were received to determine the winner.

The series featured 11 female cricketers from across Victoria’s Premier and Community ranks, all competing for a chance to win a development opportunity with the Melbourne Renegades WBBL program.

Carroll is currently completing her Year 12 studies at Kilbreda College – and will have extra reason to celebrate completing her final exams, in now joining the Renegades.

The left-arm fast bowler will receive the opportunity to train with the Renegades, be around the inner sanctum and attend a match-day with the WBBL team.

“This opportunity means so much to me,” Carroll said, after being announced as the winner.

“Honestly, coming in I wasn’t too sure what to expect. But to have the opportunity to be in and amongst a professional environment and amongst some of the best players, I am so excited and so grateful.

“I have an incredible support system and I’m so privileged to have the amount of support I do. My cricket club Ringwood, my school, family, friends, family friends… I’ve had that much support, it’s been quite overwhelming actually.”

Carroll will also receive $1,000 worth of Kookaburra gear – plus a host of prizes for her cricket club, including $2,000 worth of Kookaburra gear, 100 tickets to a WBBL match and a training session at the CitiPower Centre.

The Renegades Recruit program was hosted by WBBL Head Coach, Simon Helmot

“It’s been a great experience to lead our first-ever female Renegades Recruit program,” Helmot, said.

“This program is designed to help uncover and shine a light on some of the next-best talent in Victoria, which it certainly has.

“Our final three – Erin, Chelsea and Paris – all would have been deserving winners, both in terms of their cricket skills and their characters.

“But with the public vote, there can only be one winner. We’re excited to have Erin joining our WBBL program and know that the opportunity to train and be involved with our team will be beneficial for her cricket development.”
