Cricket South Africa (CSA) congratulates the Proteas for winning their two-match T20 International (T20I) series against Ireland.

The series concluded on Friday with South Africa winning the second match by 44 runs. The win came off the back of a 21-run victory earlier in the week in the first T20I at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol.

The two-match sequence rounded off a memorable white-ball tour of England and Wales, which included a one-all draw in the One-Day International (ODI) series, followed by a historic 2-1 T20I series win against hosts England.

CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki commented:

“Cricket South Africa would like to congratulate the Proteas on a consecutive T20I series win.”

“Credit to both Kesh (Maharaj) and David (Miller) for the way they led the Proteas in the absence of permanent white-ball captain Temba (Bavuma).

“A special mention must go to Reeza (Hendricks) for his impressive feat of four consecutive half-centuries at the top of the order, as well as Wayne (Parnell) for his career-best five-wicket haul which propelled him to 50 wickets in the shortest format.”

CSA Chairman of the Board Lawson Naidoo added:

“I extend my heartiest congratulations to Mark Boucher and the team for their most recent result. The quality and aggression with which they approached the series is testament to the brand of cricket that the Proteas have become synonymous with over the past 12 months.

“There were moments in the series where they were challenged but an all-round team effort ensured they ended up victorious. They will no doubt have gained a lot of confidence from back-to-back series wins which will stand them in good stead as they continue their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.”
