Queensland Cricket has confirmed that equal prize money will apply to the men’s and women’s KFC T20 Max competition this summer.
QC CEO Terry Svenson revealed at the KFC Queensland Premier Cricket season launch yesterday that prize money of $7,500 would apply to each competition, with $5,000 to the winning club and $2,500 to the runners-up.
It was also confirmed that Kayo Freebies would carry twelve games across the men’s and women’s KFC T20 Max competition, which starts this Thursday night with Valley taking on Gold Coast under lights at Ian Healy Oval from 6.30pm.
The Katherine Raymont Shield T20 competition will also be played under the KFC T20 Max banner, with the women’s competition taking place in its usual timeslot which complements the preparation for the Weber Women’s Big Bash League.
It will be the first time that the Premier Cricket T20 competitions have competed for prize money.
Queensland Cricket has also appointed former Queensland Police Detective Superintendent Mark Ainsworth to oversee Integrity matters across the competition which will see all matches live streamed through Sportradar’s Frogbox system as well as the enhanced match coverage broadcast on Kayo.
The T20 Max competition will be played across three weeks from Thursday through to Sunday 4 September, with the Final at Allan Border Field coinciding with the Brisbane Heat Family Day.
The Heat will keep open two contract spots on its 2022-23 list to provide opportunities for players who impress to potentially join the BBL club.
Matches will be played at Premier club grounds and under lights at the newly redeveloped Allan Border Field.
Among the recruits for the KFC T20 Max competition announced to date are current or recent BBL contracted players such as:
Jordan Silk (Sydney Sixers), Beau Webster (Melbourne Stars), Cameron Boyce (Adelaide Strikers), Ben Cutting (Sydney Thunder), Liam Guthrie (Brisbane Heat), Nick Larkin (Melbourne Stars), Clint Hinchliffe (Melbourne Stars), Josh Lalor (Melbourne Renegades), Nick Hobson (Perth Scorchers), Jake Lehmann (Brisbane Heat), Arjun Nair (Sydney Thunder), Jay Lenton (Sydney Sixers), Chris Sabburg (Perth Scorchers), Nick Bertus (Sydney Sixers), Mitch Owen (Hobart Hurricanes), Spencer Johnson (Adelaide Strikers) and Nathan McSweeney (Brisbane Heat).
Several international players have also linked with clubs, while Queensland Country players and other State-contracted or interstate Premier cricket players have signed on.
Queensland Bulls and Brisbane Heat contracted players will also play across the competition as part of their pre-season build-up.
