The Deaf Cricket South Africa (DCSA) team was capped at a ceremony which took place on Wednesday, 28 September 2022 at the CSA High-Performance Centre.

Deaf cricket Team SA is set to depart for the DICC T20 Champions Trophy 2022 to be held between 01 – 09 October 2022 at Melak Cricket Stadium, Ajman, in the UAE.

Participating teams include Australia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and South Africa.

DCSA will be looking to improve their third-place finish at the 2018 Deaf Cricket World Cup in India, where they lost to the eventual winners (Sri Lanka) in the semi-final.

DCSA Captain, Colin Venter, shared the team’s approach and plans leading up to the tournament.

“As a team, we will look to display our skills to be the best team in the tournament as that will give us a great chance to win the trophy.

“We have been working on our roles and fitness programs. Our aim is to strive to be the strongest contenders. We are practising our roles accordingly and ensuring that our mental preparation is added to the whole delivery.

“We have had multiple training camps leading up to this tournament. We want to create a cricket family that works together to work towards one goal by preparing ourselves and as a team, to be the best in the world.

“We are ready to showcase our talents on the world stage,” concluded Venter.
