Sydney Sixers is proud to announce it has extended its partnership with the Reclaim the Game initiative for another two years to help continue educating the public that gambling is NOT a part of sport.

Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon said the Sydney Sixers were determined to build on the inroads it had made over the first two years of the partnership to help reduce the stress and harm sports gambling can cause individuals, families, and society.

Under the terms of the agreement the Sydney Sixers will continue to reject sports betting sponsorship for at least another two seasons.

“Since joining forces with the Office of Responsible Gambling, the Sydney Sixers has made a meaningful contribution towards changing the community’s attitudes towards betting on sport,” said Mr Germon.

“The Sixers are proud to be able to continue to play an active part in educating children that gambling is not a part of sport, and that gambling on sport is a bad bet.

“The Sydney Sixers will continue to do all it can to counter the constant sports betting advertising and the adverse effect it has on young people – young men, in particular – and their families.”

Alison Parkinson, the A/Director of the NSW Office of Responsible Gambling, said she was pleased the Sydney Sixers remained committed to providing its fans and their community with a match day experience free of sports betting advertising.

“Cricket NSW, including the Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, NSW Blues and NSW Breakers, were our first Reclaim the Game partner,” said Ms Parkinson.

“Cricket NSW has shown they are true to the values of the program, and we are so pleased to continue working with them to reclaim the game.

“Sports betting advertising has been shown to impact young people, so by removing it from matches, our partnership helps make cricket a game that the whole family can enjoy watching.”
