Gary Kirsten and Dan Christian have been added to the Dutch coaching staff in preparation for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13.

The Netherlands qualified for the T20 World Cup in July. They will face the United Arab Emirates, Namibia and Sri Lanka in the group stage on October 16, 18 and 20, respectively.

During the preparation phase, Gary and Dan worked with the team in South Africa and Australia. They will be available to the team throughout the World Cup.

With 393 T20 caps to his name, Dan Christian has experience in all areas of T20 cricket. He is one of the most successful all-rounders and has achieved worldwide success, both at international and club level. His deep knowledge of Australian conditions is a plus for the team’s think tank, which aims to further improve its skills and tactics ahead of the World Cup.

Dan Christian’s time with the team began at the Adelaide training camp. “I’ve had a few weeks to get to know the players and have been impressed by their commitment in training. I’m looking forward to seeing them achieve well-deserved success on the pitch.”

Ryan Cook, the team’s head coach, welcomes Dan’s contributions. “I am convinced that the addition of Dan to the group will be of great value to players and staff. His positive way of dealing with the group and his enormous all-round experience has already had a major impact on the group. We look forward to continuing to work with him.”

Members of the team took part in a training camp with Kirsten and his coaching team at Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy in Cape Town – before leaving for Australia – along with head coach Ryan Cook, who has worked closely with Kirsten for many years. “Gary brings tremendous experience and knowledge to both players and support staff. That is a great asset to the team during the tournament.”
