The Brisbane Heat are an Australian professional cricket team competing in the Big Bash League (BBL), representing both men's and women's cricket. Based in Brisbane, Queensland, the Heat succeeded the Queensland Bulls, who played in the former KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The team wears a teal uniform and plays at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, known as The Gabba.

A headline panel of cricketing legends will rev fans up for the Brisbane Heat’s inaugural KFC Big Bash League match in Cairns with the club’s Cairns Late Lunch announced today.

Cricketing royalty and renowned storytellers Ian Healy and Rodney Hogg will whet the appetite of fans at the Late Lunch before the Heat take on the Melbourne Renegades at Cazalys Stadium on Thursday December 15.  

Healy, a veteran of 119 Tests and 168 ODIs for Australia, will provide guests with the inside word on the Heat’s BBL|12 preparation as Chair of the club’s Recruitment Committee that has seen new players in Matthew Renshaw and Usman Khawaja added to the squad.  

Likewise, Hogg boasts an impressive career resume thanks to his 38 Tests and 71 ODIs, while his post-playing career has seen him develop into one of the game’s great media and event entertainers.  

The Lunch will be emceed by local radio icon Tammy Barker.  

The Late Lunch will have a direct benefit to the local cricketing community, with part of the funds raised going into the Queensland Cricket Foundation to support projects and initiatives that create positive differences in Queensland communities.  

Tickets are available from $250pp which includes a 4-hour pre-game drinks package, a two-course lunch, and grandstand ticket to the Heat vs Renegades match, with tickets available from Ticketek.  

The Heat’s first trip to Cairns has been made possible thanks to the Cairns Regional Council.
