The Momentum Multiply Titans clinched their seventh T20 trophy with a nail biting 4 wicket win over the HollywoodBets Dolphins on Saturday, 5 November. The final went into the last over where the Titans claimed victory with 2 balls remaining.

The Titans had a good run throughout the competition, finishing top of the table with their six wins from seven in the round robin stage propelling them into the knockout phase before going on to be crowned champions.

“I’m really proud of this bunch.” Exclaimed Head Coach, Mandla Mashimbyi.

“It’s been a great campaign for the Sky Blues and we proved to ourselves that if a group of individuals buy in and commit to certain processes a strong team will be born.”

Lessons would’ve been learnt from last season where the Titans fell at the last hurdle in the 2021 edition of the CSA T20 Challenge. The Sky Blues went one better this time around and managed to get over the line in what was a tense final.

“Congratulations to Mandla, his coaching staff and the players. They were clinical in this competition and earned the title.” Explained Titans CEO, Dr Jacques Faul.

“It’s really encouraging to see how the group came together and fought for each other. There was unity amongst the team and it was clear that they were focused on attaining the same goal.”

Two new players were handed debut caps for the Titans during the CSA T20 Challenge in Matthew Boast and Musa Twala. Boast was a member of the SA Under 19 team that won the CSA T20 Knockout, while Twala made the move to the Titans from Easterns in the off season.

Boast, Twala along with Dewald Brevis and the leadership of Sibonelo Makhanya bodes well for the future of the Titans.

In the matches they featured the young stars took on the occasion admirably. The competition also gave foresight into the Titans future under the guidance of Sibonelo Makhanya.

“It’s a great story for Sibz, he’s a great leader and there’s no doubt that he will lead this team to even greater heights.” Faul continued.

“He’s a natural leader and has a great influence in the changeroom. He’s made the perfect start to his captaincy and once again congratulations to Sibz and his team.”

Winning the first trophy on offer is the start that the Titans would’ve wanted to make to the 2022/2023 season and they’ll want to carry this momentum into the next competitions.
