The New Zealand national cricket team, known as the Black Caps, made their Test debut in 1930 against England in Christchurch, becoming the fifth nation to play Test cricket. After waiting 26 years for their first Test win against the West Indies in 1956, they also played their first ODI in 1972–73 against Pakistan. New Zealand are the inaugural World Test Championship champions (2021) and have won the ICC Champions Trophy (2000). They have reached the Cricket World Cup final twice and the T20 World Cup final once.

Gillette Venus has strengthened its support of the women’s game over the next two years, becoming the shirt partner of the six women’s Dream11 Super Smash teams, and this summer’s WHITE FERNS series partner at home.

Gillette Venus is already the title partner for the National Secondary Schoolgirls Competition (Gillette Venus Cup) and the National Under-19 Women’s Tournament (Gillette Venus Under 19 Women’s National Tournament), underscoring a significant commitment to the women’s game, and women’s sport in general.

NZC’s GM Commercial, Chris Smith, said the most recent agreements reflected an increased commercial interest in women’s cricket and, by definition, women’s sport.

“We’re delighted to have the women’s Super Smash sides and the WHITE FERNS home series backed by one of the world’s biggest companies,” said Mr Smith.

“Our partnership with Gillette Venus is something we’re all very proud of, and it’s especially pleasing to see the increased interest in women’s cricket.”

Peter Schulte, Senior Business Director, P&G Grooming, said the partnership demonstrates P&G’s strong ties with the community.

“Our hope is that through these partnerships, we can help to elevate the game and tournament, inspiring more people to participate in the great sport of cricket,” said Mr Schulte.

“We’re thrilled to be growing our partnership with both NZC and the WHITE FERNS, and look forward to seeing the teams thrive.”

Additionally, Procter & Gamble is entering its third year of its partnership with New Zealand Cricket through Gillette and Oral-B, with Gillette remaining a long-term title partner of the National Secondary Schoolboys Competition: the Gillette Cup.

The WHITE FERNS play Bangladesh in the opening T20 at Hagley Oval tomorrow.

The Gillette Venus women’s national under-19 tournament starts in Lincoln on December 4, with the Gillette Venus Secondary Schoolgirls tournament being hosted at the same venue, from December 20-22.
