The Sydney Sixers are an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket team competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). Based at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the Sixers, along with the Sydney Thunder, succeeded the New South Wales Blues from the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash.

Sydney Sixers young gun, Jack Edwards is set to remain in magenta ahead of KFC BBL|12, putting pen to paper for three more years.

Making his debut for the Sixers in 2018, the 22-year-old provides a classy top-order option with the bat, accumulating 357 runs across 29 Big Bash apperances.

With 23 first-class matches and in excess of 800 runs to his name, the right-hander continues to make a name for himself at the domestic level.

A homegrown local talent, Edwards has followed in the footsteps of older brother Mickey, previously lining up alongside his brother for both NSW and the Sixers.

At just 18, Edwards became the youngest player to score a century in domestic One-Day cricket for NSW, since adding a second List A hundred and a first-class century to his growing list of achievements.

Collecting 20 first-class wickets to date, the part-time quick additionally provides a useful option with ball in hand. 

Signing on for a fifth season with the Sixers, the 22-year-old is keen to see what the group can achieve in BBL|12. 

“I’m super excited to be back in Sixers colours for the next three years.” Edwards said. 

“We’ve put together a really strong group and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can produce on-field this season.”

“The Sixers fans are the best in the competition and to play in front of a full house at the SCG this season will be amazing.”

Sixers Head Coach, Greg Shipperd expressed his excitement about the future of the young star.   

“Our team success has been built on the strength of our whole squad, and Jack has been an important role player for us.” Shipperd said.

“He is developing well as an all-round player and made significant progress for us last season.

“Jack is a popular player with our supporters, and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue as part of the Sixers family.”

The Sixers will formally open their KFC BBL|12 campaign next Wednesday, facing the Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide Oval.
