Cricket NSW Chairman John Knox has today congratulated Mike Baird AO on his appointment as Chair of Cricket Australia.
Baird is the former Premier of NSW and was a member of the Cricket NSW Board between September 2019 and October 2020, before becoming a Cricket Australia Director.
“On behalf of Cricket NSW, I congratulate Mike on his appointment as the Cricket Australia Chair,” Knox said.
“Mike is an outstanding leader who has demonstrated an excellent understanding of the key issues driving the future of the game. He has been a big supporter of cricket, from being the Patron of the Manly Warringah District Cricket Club to a former board member of Cricket NSW and in his role at Cricket Australia.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with Mike, the CA board and all the States and Territories through this pivotal time for our game.
“In congratulating Mike, we would also like to thank Dr Lachlan Henderson, for his contribution as the Chair of Cricket Australia, and we are delighted that he is staying on the Cricket Australia board to help influence the future of the game .”
Mike becomes the 41st Chair of Cricket Australia (or its predecessors) and the first current or former Cricket NSW director to become Chair of Cricket Australia since the late Alan Crompton (1992-1995).
