The Brisbane Heat will utilise a full day in the Cairns community today as part of their preparations for Thursday night’s KFC Big Bash League against the Melbourne Renegades at Cazalys Stadium.

Heat players and coaches will attend matches in the Under-16 Bulls Masters Country Challenge at Griffiths Park and Walker Road from 10am to 12pm while the full squad will participate in an open signing session at Cazalys from 3.15pm to 3.45pm before training from 4pm.

On Wednesday, Heat captain Jimmy Peirson and his Melbourne Renegades counterpart Nic Maddinson will be available to media from 9.30am at the venue prior to Renegades training that morning.

Heat players will also attend a community visit at Our Lady of Help of Christians OSHC, Earlville from 10am.

Thursday will be the first KFC BBL game to be played in Cairns, with the support from the Cairns Regional Council ensuring the Heat men’s team will be in action in Tropical Far North Queensland.

The Heat will play seven home games across Cazalys Stadium, the Gabba and Metricon Stadium, with this summer’s schedule including the New Year’s Bash January 1 match at the Gabba.

Heat memberships and public tickets are on sale now through Ticketek for the BBL this summer.
