Bio

Ian Bishop is a former West Indies International Cricketer. He made his debut in 1988 and featured in 127 matches for the West Indies. He played primarily as a fast bowler, excelling in the red-ball format, picking up 161 wickets. He retired in 1998 at just 30 years of age due to back problems.

Bishop’s love for the game of cricket drew him towards a career in commentary. He has traveled all over the world as a commentator since his retirement from the game as a player. His commentary in the 2016 T20 World Cup Final has been called an “iconic piece of commentary” after Carlos Brathwaite’s 4 consecutive sixes in the last over won the final for West Indies against England.

Bishop has been an integral part of the Indian Premier League commentary panel, having been associated with the Indian T20 League since the inaugural edition in 2008. He also visited Pakistan as part of the commentary team for the 3-match ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies in Multan in June 2022.

Bishop also represented Trinidad and Tobago in the domestic circuit, while he played for Derbyshire for 4 years from 1989 to 1993. He finished his playing career with 549 wickets in 159 First Class matches.

Bishop holds an MBA degree.
