Bio

Roger Binny is a former Indian International cricketer. He featured in 27 Tests and 72 ODIs for India from 1979 to 1987. He played an important role in India’s successful 1983 World Cup campaign, picking up 18 wickets, a record at that time.

Binny is currently BCCI’s 36th President, replacing Sourav Ganguly in October 2022 after being elected unopposed.

After his playing career, Binny made his mark as a coach and was given a lot of credit for India’s Under 19 Team World Cup triumph in Sri lanka in Jan 2000. He later coached India’s under 16 team in 2002 and the Bengal team in 2007. Binny later served the Indian Men’s National Cricket Team selector from 2012-2015.

Binny has served Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) as Vice President (2010-2012) and most recently as President for three years from 2019-2022 before being elected as BCCI President. As a KSCA President, his first task was to restore credibility to the state’s T20 League, Karnataka Premier League. He swiftly disbanded the tournament and overhauled its structure.

Binny also helped establish the pathways for cricket in Southeast Asia and the Middle East as a Cricket Development Officer of the Asian Cricket Council when he joined the ACC in 2007.
